A quimioterapia antineoplásica tem sido usada com o intuito de aumentar o tempo de sobrevida. O objetivo deste trabalho é relatar o caso de um canino, Dachshund, fêmea, de 11 anos de idade, apresentando nódulos na região cervical, base da orelha e crânio, diagnosticados como mastocitomas de grau II. Realizou-se cirurgia reconstrutiva para correção dos defeitos de pele causados pela excisão cirúrgica ampla, a qual foi usada como tratamento paliativo e um modo de alívio para a dor e desconforto causados pelas lesões ulceradas, e melhora da qualidade de vida do paciente. Palavras-chave: cirurgia paliativa, mastocitoma, cão. ABSTRACT The mastocytoma is the most common skin tumor in dogs and surgical excision with wide margins is the treatment of choice. The antineoplasic chemotherapy have been used in attempt to increase survival time. The aim of this work is to report a case of a canine, Dachushund, female, 11 years of age, presenting nodules in the cervical region, base of the ear and skull, diagnosed as a grade II mastocytoma. Reconstructive surgery was performed to correct the skin defects caused by the wide surgical excision that was used as palliative treatment and a way to relieve pain and discomfort caused by ulcerated injuries, and improving life quality of the patient.
