São animais peçonhentos, sendo a espécie Bothrops moojeni mais encontrada no cerrado e na mata de araucária. Seu manejo anestésico é complicado em função do metabolismo lento e a sua dependência por temperatura externa. O objetivo do trabalho é relatar a anestesia em uma Jararaca (Bothrops moojeni) usando quetamina, midazolam e butorfanol como pré-medicação, isoflurano como agente de indução e manutenção anestésica e flumazenil no período de recuperação após a cirurgia. No estudo observou-se que o protocolo anestésico foi efetivo para esta espécie, promovendo uma adequada analgesia, relaxamento muscular e segurança na conclusão do procedimento cirúrgico. Palavras-chaves: Jararaca; Bothrops moojeni; anestesia. ABSTRACT The genus Bothrops includes seventeen species in Brazil, distributed throughout the entire territory. It is complicated to manage anesthetics procedures in reptiles due to their slow metabolism and to these animals dependency of environmental temperature. This paper reports a case of anesthesia held on a Bothrops moojeni specimen, using ketamine, midazolam and butorphanol as pre-anesthetic medication, isoflurane for induction and anesthetic maintenance and flumazenil in the anesthetic recovery period. It was observed that the anesthetic protocol was effective for the species for providing good analgesia, muscle relaxation and security on the conclusion of the surgical procedure.
